Medal Design

The medal features a six-pointed star with alternating blue and light blue enamel panels, outlined in gold. At the center is a circular emblem depicting the Twin Towers beneath a soaring eagle, representing strength, freedom, and courage.

Above the medal, the suspension device is a gold medallion displaying a bold "H" set within the outline of a keystone. This is a tribute to Pennsylvania, known as the Keystone State, and honors the heroes of United Flight 93, whose passengers and crew fought bravely to prevent further tragedy when their flight crashed near Shanksville, PA.
