This U.S. Army Airborne Command embroidered patch features the historic red shield design with a white glider, white parachute, and AIRBORNE tab above. It is a classic design associated with World War II-era American airborne and glider forces.
The Airborne Command shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 March 1943. Airborne Command was established for the training of U.S. paratroopers and glider troops during World War II. In 1944, it was renamed Airborne Center while continuing its airborne training role.
