Queen Elizabeth I Armada Medal Replica – Solid Copper with Red Ribbon & Blue Case

A finely detailed replica medal inspired by the historic Queen Elizabeth I Armada Medal, also known as the Dangers Averted Medal, associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England (1533–1603).

Elizabeth I, remembered as the “Virgin Queen,” ruled during one of the most celebrated periods in English history. Her reign saw political stability, overseas exploration, cultural achievement, and the flourishing of the Elizabethan Age.

The obverse features a high-relief Renaissance-style portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, wearing a crown, ruff collar, jeweled gown, and holding the royal sceptre and orb. Around the portrait is the Latin inscription:

“DITIOR . IN . TOTO . NON . ALTER . CIRCVLVS . ORBE”

This may be translated as:

“There is no richer circle in all the world.”

The reverse depicts a bay or laurel tree standing on an island, surrounded by waves, with the royal initials E R in the field, meaning Elizabeth Regina — Queen Elizabeth. The reverse inscription reads:

“NON . IPSA . PERICVLA . TANGVNT”

This translates as:

“Not even dangers can touch it.”

The imagery refers to Elizabeth’s survival through great political and military dangers, especially the threat from Catholic powers in Europe and King Philip II of Spain. The medal is closely associated with the aftermath of the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, one of the defining events of Elizabeth’s reign.

According to the British Museum, related examples of this medal were produced shortly after the destruction of the Armada and may have served as prestigious presentation or reward pieces. The reverse design, with the laurel tree untouched by storm and danger, symbolized Elizabeth’s strength, survival, and the protection of England.

This replica is made from solid copper and supplied with a red neck ribbon. It comes displayed in a blue presentation case, giving the piece an elegant and collection-ready appearance. The detailed portrait, Tudor costume, royal symbols, and Renaissance-style decorative elements make it an attractive piece for historical medal collectors.
