Historical note
The Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero was established on 29 October 1953, on the 50th anniversary of Panama’s independence, and is awarded to distinguished Panamanians and foreigners for exceptional achievements in the sciences, arts, politics and public life. The collar and star are reserved for the highest grades of the order and have been bestowed on heads of state and other eminent figures.
