A finely detailed reproduction of the Knight Commander (KBE) breast star of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, representing the later pattern introduced following the redesign of the Order’s insignia in 1937.
The imposing silver-tone star is formed from multiple sharply faceted rays, creating the distinctive brilliance associated with the higher classes of the Order. At its centre is a rich red enamelled circlet bearing the historic motto:
“FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE”
The central gilt medallion depicts the crowned effigies of King George V and Queen Mary, a design adopted in 1937 to commemorate the sovereign and consort during whose reign the Order was founded.
