History / Background
The Cross of St. George was established in 1807 as one of the Russian Empire’s most respected bravery awards for enlisted men and NCOs, granted for personal courage in combat. It was issued in four classes (4th up to 1st), and recipients could progress through higher classes for repeated acts of valor. The decoration is worn on the distinctive black-and-orange St. George ribbon, traditionally associated with battlefield courage and military merit. This piece reproduces the classic imperial-style design for collection and display.
