History
The Cross of St. George was founded in1807as the Russian Empire’s highest gallantry award forenlisted men and NCOswho showed personal courage in battle. It was issued infour classes, from 4th up to 1st, and worn on the distinctiveblack-and-orange “St. George” ribbon, symbolizing smoke and fire of combat. After the revolution the award lapsed, but the tradition was later revived and the Cross re-entered Russia’s awards system in1992. This piece reproduces the classic imperial design for display and study.
