The medal "In memory of the reign of Emperor Alexander III" was founded on February 26, 1896 and is intended to award persons who were in service during the reign of Alexander III , by decree [1] of Emperor Nicholas II in memory of the 51st anniversary of the day the birth of Emperor Alexander III for the purpose of awarding ranks who were in active state service during his reign

Diameter 28 mm . On the obverse side of the medal, there is a right-facing profile bust of Alexander III . On the right, in an arc along the edge, the inscription — " IMP. ALEXANDER III ", on the left - a laurel branch. On the reverse side, under the large imperial crown , the years of the reign of Alexander III are indicated in two lines: " 1881 1894 ". An image of a heraldic cross is placed under the dates .
Types of state minted medals are unknown [13] . Known versions of the medals were produced by private workshops. They may differ in image details. There are also options made of white metal [3] .
