This is a modern replica medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian Medal for Turkish Troops of 1833. The original award was created under Emperor Nicholas I to commemorate the cooperation between Russian and Turkish forces when Ottoman troops camped alongside the Russian landing detachment at Gaukh-Ker-Iskelesi (“Sultan’s Pier”) on the Bosphorus.

Gold versions were awarded to generals and officers, with only 168 produced (8 of them decorated with diamonds).
