This is a modern replica medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian medal “For the Capture of Warsaw, 1831”. The original award was instituted under Tsar Nicholas I and presented to soldiers of the Russian Empire who participated in the storming of Warsaw during the November Uprising (1830–1831).
The capture of Warsaw in September 1831, under Field Marshal Hans Karl von Diebitsch, marked the end of the uprising and became one of the defining campaigns of Nicholas I’s reign.
