The Order of the Golden Grain was established in 1912, during the early years of the Republic of China. It was one of the important national decorations of the Beiyang Government period and was awarded for distinguished service to the state, as well as notable achievements in public affairs, scholarship, and national development.
The design features the traditional golden grain motif, symbolizing prosperity, merit, and achievement. This 9th Class version features a radiating badge with a central grain emblem, surrounded by multicolored detailing. The reverse bears a red center with the Chinese characters 嘉禾勋章. It is suspended from a black ribbon with white side panels, matching the style of this class.
