The original medal was awarded to recipients of the earlier “For the Defense of Sevastopol” medal, as well as to military and non-combatant personnel, priests, and sisters of mercy who took part in the battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman, and the Black River. Each medal was accompanied by a certificate issued by the Committee for the Management of the Sevastopol Museum and Monuments of the Defense of Sevastopol.
This reproduction follows the design of the 1903 issue and is suitable for collectors of Imperial Russian history, Crimean War memorabilia, and educational display.
