Historical background
The Cross of Valor is one of Poland’s best-known military decorations. It was created on 11 August 1920, during the Polish–Soviet War, to reward soldiers who showed personal bravery and courage in combat. In its early years the decoration was awarded directly by the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army; later, authority to bestow it was extended to frontline and divisional commanders. The cross could be granted to the same person up to four times, and has traditionally been awarded only in wartime or shortly afterwards.
Important note
This is not an official state decoration and confers no rights or privileges. It is a privately made collector’s reproduction, sold by Tmedals for historical, educational and display purposes only.
