This is a modern replica medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian medal “In Memory of the War of 1853–1856”, established after the Crimean War (1853–1856).
The original medal was instituted on August 26, 1856, by Emperor Alexander II, following his coronation. It was created to commemorate the end of the Crimean War and became one of the most widely distributed Imperial awards.
It was awarded both to combatants and non-combatants, including those who served at the front or in support roles. The medal existed in two versions (light bronze and dark bronze), with variations in ribbon type depending on the recipient’s role.
⚠️ Note: This item is a reproduction for collectors, historians, reenactors, and educational display purposes only. It is not an original 1856 medal.
