The medal "In memory of the war of 1853-1856" is the highest approved  mass award of the Russian Empire . Established to commemorate the end of the Crimean War (1853-1856) and on the occasion of the coronation of Alexander II .

The medal "In memory of the war of 1853-1856" was awarded to a wide range of people who fought in the Crimean War and were in the rear. The drawing of the medal was approved on March 30, 1856 [1] . The medal was officially established on August 26, 1856 by Alexander II in a special manifesto "On the most merciful granting of favors to the people on the occasion of the Coronation of His Imperial Majesty" [1] [2] [3] . The medal had two options: light bronze and dark bronze, in addition, there was a gradation according to the type of ribbon for wearing
