On the front side of the medal is a profile portrait of Alexander 1, along the circumference there is an inscription ALEXANDER I IMP. ALL-RUSSIA. On the reverse side is a horizontal inscription FOR COURAGE. The medal was awarded to Cossack officers and residents of the national outskirts of the Russian Empire for the exploits committed during the Russian-Iranian and Russian-Turkish wars.
