RUSSIA - Nicholas II
(1/11/1894-14/03/1917)
Nicolas II (18/051868-16/07/1918), the Alexander III and Mary's eldest son, succeeded his father in 1894. Married Alix of Hesse that he has five children, four girls and a boy, he is an autocrat resigned. Dominated by Rasputin to the murder of the latter in 1916, he was left out in the Russo-Japanese war which removes Manchuria. The revolution of 1905 has upset his throne and the establishment of a democratically elected Duma can not prevent the establishment of Bolshevik factions, determined to take power by force. He lets himself be drawn into the war of 1914 by the interplay of alliances and his throne can not resist. He was overthrown in 1917 by the February revolution and murdered the following year with his family.
