This is a reproduction of the Imperial Russian Medal “For Distinction in the Storming of Bazardzhik”, originally awarded in 1810 during the reign of Emperor Alexander I.
The medal commemorated the storming of the Ottoman fortress of Bazardzhik on May 22, 1810, a significant event in the Russo-Turkish War of 1806–1812. It was awarded to soldiers of General N.M. Kamensky’s corps who distinguished themselves in the successful assault. In total, about 15,164 medals were issued to mark this victory.
