This is a modern replica medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian commemorative medal of 1912, established by Emperor Nicholas II in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812.

• Obverse: Profile portrait of Emperor Alexander I.

• Reverse: Cyrillic inscription in seven lines: “1812 – A glorious year this is passed, but the feats made in it will not pass – 1912.”

• The original medal included an eyelet for suspension on a block.

The medal symbolized national pride and remembrance of Russia’s defense against Napoleon’s invasion in 1812.
